Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggar (ANTARA) - The 2nd Sherpa Meeting of G20 held in Labuan Bajo, West Manggarai, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), on Sunday, accentuated the importance of tourism recovery.
"It was discussed during the meeting. The issue that was noted was that tourism is an impacted sector. We have experienced over the last two years, at a global, national, and regional scale," Chair of the G20 Indonesia Tourism Working Group (TWG) Fransiskus Xaverius Teguh told the press after attending the meeting's Session I on the Global Health Architecture.
In the meeting's progress report, the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy said it intended to produce an international commitment that will be referred to as the Bali Guidelines, with focus on recovery centered on the community and MSMEs.
The G20 members attending the meeting considered tourism and the creative economy as playing crucial roles in the recovery of tourism. Tourism recovery is a topic that aligns with Indonesia's G20 Presidency theme of "Recover Together, Recover Stronger."
The sustainability aspect to encourage higher quality and more sustainable tourism has become a critical note for G20 members. The meeting outlined five frameworks of action that will be the highlight of global and national references.

The five frameworks of action are human resources; digitalization, innovation, and creative economy; involvement of young people and women; dynamic conservation, circular economy and sustainability; and the policy, governance, and investment, according to Teguh, expert staff for Sustainable Development and Conservation at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, concurrently Deputy for Resources and Institutions of the Regional Creative Economy Agency.
The second G20 Sherpa meeting is being held in Labuan Bajo on July 10-13, 2022. Representatives from 19 G20 member countries, six invited countries, and nine international organizations were present at the meeting. Only the United States joins the meeting virtually. The agenda of the meeting includes visits to the Komodo National Park and Padar Island.
