Brebes, Central Java (ANTARA) - The number of vehicles leaving the Greater Jakarta area through toll roads during the two days of Eid al-Fitr remained high, according to state-owned toll operator Jasa Marga."We recorded the volume of traffic leaving the Greater Jakarta area reached 396,318 vehicles by April 10–11, 2024," the head of Jasa Marga's marketing and communication department, Faiza Riani, said here on Friday.

Most of the vehicles, accounting for 56.1 percent of the total traffic, flowed eastward to the Trans-Java Toll Road through the Cikampek toll gate and to Bandung city through the Kalihurip toll gate, she informed.

"Meanwhile, we recorded 127,425 vehicles passing through the Cikampek toll gate, an increase of 146.2 percent from the normal traffic," the official said.

As per Jasa Marga's records, 94.9 thousand vehicles passed through the Kalihurip toll gate to Bandung city, an increase of 68.9 percent from normal, she added.

Riani asked travelers to plan their return trip to the Greater Jakarta area accordingly, as the return flow period is expected to be shorter than the homecoming flow last week. The return flow is expected to peak on Monday (April 15), she added.

"We encourage travelers seeking to return to Greater Jakarta to depart earlier from the predicted peak travel day or (later) for those with more time," she said.

She informed that travelers can enjoy a 20-percent discount on toll fares from 5 a.m. Jakarta time Wednesday (April 17) till 5 a.m Friday (April 19).

The discount, however, will apply only to traffic flowing westward on the Trans-Java Toll Road from the Kalikangkung toll gate in Semarang, Central Java, to the Cikampek toll gate.

Riani also asked travelers to thoroughly prepare for travel, including by ensuring the physical fitness of the driver and the roadworthiness of their vehicle. Travelers should also prepare supplies, adequate gas, and sufficient electronic money balance.

"Use your time wisely by not staying too long in rest areas and be considerate of other travelers who want to use the facility," she added.
