Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesian Vice President Ma'ruf Amin stated that the world lost a figure of peace after Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi died in a helicopter crash on Sunday (May 19) local time.
"We have really lost someone who is committed to creating world peace," the vice president stated after attending the inauguration of West Sulawesi Province Sharia Economic and Financial Regional Committee (KDEKS), as witnessed on the YouTube channel of the Vice President's Secretariat here on Wednesday.
Amin remarked that the late President Raisi was a figure with a high commitment to maintaining world peace.
The vice president also noted that Indonesia felt a deep sense of loss, as Iran is a friendly country of Indonesia.
According to Amin, Iran is a country that is committed to maintaining peace and respecting and supporting each other and has never been involved in conflict with Indonesia.
"For Indonesia, our relationship is peaceful, we respect and support each other, and there is no conflict. Our condolences to Iran. Iran is Indonesia's friend," the vice president stated.

Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi along with Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amirabdollahian and seven other people in his entourage were declared dead as a result of the crash of the helicopter they were traveling in.
The unfortunate accident occurred in the mountains near the border of Azerbaijan and Iran after the president held a meeting with the Azerbaijan president to inaugurate the dam located on the border of the two countries.
