Depok, West Java (ANTARA) - Indira Zahidah, a fiscal administration student at the University of Indonesia's (UI's) Faculty of Administrative Science, was named the Best Delegate at the Paris International Model United Nations (PIMUN).
"We must cooperate to determine how the policy can be implemented. Three important aspects resulted from this meeting, which were finally considered resolutions," Zahidah remarked here on Friday.
She noted in a statement that the three important aspects are sustainable sourcing, labor rights, and funding. The PIMUN, which took place in Paris, was a simulation of the real United Nations (UN) meeting.
Zahidah excelled among 16 participants from various countries, including France, the United States, and Poland. She represented Indonesia in a meeting focused on "Reviewing the Obligations of States and Private Sector Entities in Sourcing Commodities" within the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
Discussions on this topic covered the exploitation of natural resources, child labor, and the role of the state and private sectors in commodity production. Zahidah deemed it important to establish cooperation between the state and the private sector to ensure economic sustainability and natural resource management.
"Delegations from other countries have other solutions, but we can defeat their arguments, and we looked for loopholes in their proposed solutions. That is what made us the best delegate," she remarked.

The assessment indicators in the event were speech skills, negotiation, formulating policies, and consistency with the position held by the country they represent. She noted that the main challenge lies in striking a balance between conducting diplomacy and maintaining national interests.
As part of their preparation, Zahidah and her team from the UI Model UN Club present a commitment to conducting research.
"This achievement is the result of hard work, commitment, and continuous support from my teammates and the UI Faculty of Administrative Science," she affirmed.
