Five Countries Participate in Seminar on Animal Nutrition in Lombok

W Lombok, W Nusa Tenggara,  (Antara)- Scientists from Indonesia, Timor Leste, Malaysia, Australia and New Zealand participate in a Seminar on Animal Nutrition and Feed Sciences being held in Senggigi, Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), Nov 7-9, 2017.

"The international seminar was aimed at disseminating results of researches by our colleagues in Indonesia and other countries," Dr Dahlanuddin, chairman of the organizing committee, said here, Tuesday.

Some of the results of the researches could be applied by cattle farmers in West Nusa Tenggara that has more than one million cows, he said.

The seminar themed "Improving livestock productivity, quality and safety using locally available resources", is organized by the Faculty of Animal Science at the University of Mataram and the Indonesian Association of Animal Nutrition and Feed Scientists.

Besides, the seminar is also expected to serve as a forum for the exchange of new information on animal feed science and

technology, with a focus on improving livestock productivity, quality and safety to respond to increasing demand for high quality and safe animal products from upper middle class consumers.

The seminar will include a field trip to cattle feeding based on leucaena at Teluk Nara and Integrated cattle management system in

Karang Kendal north Lombok, with stops at Malimbu beach point look out and Senggigi beach; and to cattle fattening based on Sesbania grandiflora in Nyerot Village Central Lombok.  (*)
