Group of U.S. Investors Visiting Lombok

Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara, Feb 19 (Antara) - The Indonesian Consulate General in New York accompanied group of 16 U.S. investors visiting a number of areas in Indonesia including Lombok of West Nusa Tenggara.

"According to plan, the group of the investors would meet with West Nusa Tenggara Governor TGH Muhammad Zainul Majdi on Monday and a number of local business leaders. We were asked to accompany the governor," head of representative office of Bank Indonesia for the province Achris Sarwani said here on Sunday night.

Achris said the visit by the group of investors from New York followed the Forum of Investors held by the Indonesian Consulate General in the U.S. city. The group will stay in Indonesia from 17 to 27 February.

The Indonesian Consulate General has asked Bank Indonesia representative offices in West Nusa Tenggara , Yogyakarta, and Solo to facilitate a meeting with governors and local business leaders, grouped in the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin).

Before visiting Lombok, the group already visited Bali on Saturday and met with leaders of Kadin and the management of the state-owned PT Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) in the tourist island.

ITDC manages Bali`s Nusa Dua commercial area, which is a world class tourist destination in Indonesia. It is developing the Mandalika Special Economic Zone in the regency of Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara.

Achris said the group of U.S. investors arrived at the Senggigi tourist resorts in West Lombok on Sunday.

"After a meeting the governor, the group will visit the Mandalika Special Economic Zone (KEK) in the regency of West Lombok. Later in the evening they would meet while having dinner with the Kadin leaders," he said.

The U.S. investors visit a number of areas in Indonesia to study investment potential and investment possibility in various sectors in the country.

On Thursday February 22, the U.S. investors will speak at a seminar with theme of "How to attract investors from US investors` perspective" in Jakarta.

The seminar constitutes part of a series of integrated promotion activities , "Trade, Tourism and Investment" (TTI), organized jointly with a New York Economic Working Group in August 2016 in New York.

The Group also is scheduled to meet with Tourism Minister Arief Yahya, Transport Minister Budi Karya Sumadi, and leaders of the central board of Kadin. (*)
