Banjarmasin (ANTARA) - South Kalimantan Governor H. Muhidin on Friday emphasized that the 2025 South Kalimantan International Trade Mission is seeking to expand the global export reach of the province’s top local products.

Speaking in Banjarmasin on Friday, he said that the mission aims to promote South Kalimantan’s competitive commodities that have strong potential in the international market.

He added that the initiative marks an important milestone in promoting and broadening the global exposure of South Kalimantan's flagship products.

Held in Jakarta, the trade mission showcased a wide range of South Kalimantan’s economic strengths, including processed fishery products, plantation commodities, minerals, timber products, and signature handicrafts, such as Sasirangan fabric.

A total of 11 curated high-potential micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from the region participated in the exhibition and business matching sessions during the trade mission.

Governor Muhidin reiterated the provincial government’s full support for the MSME sector, particularly through capacity building, access to financing, market expansion, promotional efforts, and investment facilitation.

He said that the South Kalimantan government is open to collaborating with trade partners and investors with a strong commitment to providing a business-friendly environment, supported by clear regulations and efficient procedures.

He also urged his administration to coordinate closely with all relevant stakeholders, especially the Ministry of Trade, in future international trade missions to ensure the market appeal of the products being promoted.

Meanwhile, director general of national export development at the Ministry of Trade, Fajarini Puntodewi, praised South Kalimantan’s commitment to supporting MSMEs through assistance programs and investment facilitation.

She said that the ministry recently organized a trade mission to Japan, led by Deputy Trade Minister Dyah Roro Esti Widya Putri, from June 9 to 13, 2025.
