Jakarta (ANTARA) - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno handed over Financial Support for Tourism and Creative Economy Business Development (DPUP) to three tourism villages in Banten Province.

"I want that the financing assistance and the financial literacy mentoring program to be focused on improving human resources, creative economy products, and tourist destinations so that tourism visits are of higher quality and more sustainable," Uno said in a statement obtained here on Sunday.

The three tourism villages that received the financial assistance are the Sukarame Village, Cikolelet Village, and Untung Jawa Island Village. According to him, the DPUP can be used to purchase supporting equipment needed for operating tourism and creative economy businesses.

In addition to giving the DPUP funds, the ministry also held financial literacy training for managers of the three tourism villages. The financial literacy training aimed to increase the capacity of human resources in order to optimize the management of tourism villages.

The DPUP and financial literacy training given to the three tourism villages were the continuation of the Indonesian Tourism Village Award (ADWI) of 2021 and 2022. With the assistance, the ministry hoped the three tourism villages can develop their businesses further.

In the financial literacy training, the tourism and creative economy business actors in the three tourism villages learned about legal forms of investment, how to access capital services, and plan and record business finances better.

Each village got around Rp120 million (around US$7,800) which is expected to be utilized as well as possible, especially in human resource development. "(The financing) is also expected to bolster the improvement of creative economy products and tourism destinations so that tourist visits have more quality and sustainable," Uno said.
