Kendari, SE Sulawesi (ANTARA) - The ANTARA News Agency's Southeast Sulawesi bureau has organized a photo exhibition entitled "Celebes" to highlight the natural and tourism wonders of the province.Celebes, another name for Sulawesi Island, has several smaller islands with exotic panoramas and tourism potentials that need to be promoted more to the public, according to ANTARA's commercial, business, and IT director, Jaka Sugiyanta.

"Celebes is an exotic island, which we need to highlight more (to the public) because it has many beautiful natural tourism destinations," he added here on Tuesday.

He said that the featured photos were produced by ANTARA's photojournalists who were based in and conducted assignments in the Sulawesi region.

He added that the exhibition is not being held just to showcase the works of ANTARA journalists, rather it is also a part of the news agency's contribution to promoting unexplored parts of Indonesia and making them more well-known.

Apart from exhibiting the works, the news agency has also compiled featured photos into a catalog book, Sugiyanta said.

Concurring with Sugiyanta, the ANTARA News Agency's Southeast Sulawesi bureau chief, Zabur Karuru, said that the exhibition aims to highlight the natural and tourism potentials of the province that the people should explore more.

Meanwhile, Ismar Patrizki, the curator, revealed that 90 photographs showing the cultural, tourism, and natural wonders of Sulawesi are being showcased at the "Celebes" exhibition.

"The featured photos were taken by 23 active or retired ANTARA photojournalists based in Sulawesi," he informed.

The exhibition is being held at Kali Kadia Park in Kendari, Southeast Sulawesi, from December 10–18, 2024.
