Jakarta (ANTARA) - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi urged all his ranks to establish collaboration with relevant stakeholders in different sectors to provide the finest services in all modes of transportation during this year's Eid homecoming.

"To follow up to President Joko Widodo's instruction regarding smooth, safe, and comfortable Eid homecoming, we need to work hand in hand with cross-sector stakeholders," he noted in a statement received from his office in Jakarta on Sunday.

He made the statement on Saturday (March 19), during first-hand inspections on the readiness of transportation infrastructure ahead of the 2024 Eid exodus in several locations in West Java, including the Kertajati International Airport, Cisumdawu and Cipali toll roads, and Cirebon Train Station.

"I wanted to ensure that all infrastructure and facilities in all modes of transportation are well-prepared for serving people participating in the upcoming Eid exodus," he said.

To make the 2024 Eid homecoming a successful event, he emphasized the need to forge a sound level of collaboration among the Transportation Ministry, National Police (Polri), regional governments, state-run toll road operator Jasa Marga, state-owned railway firm KAI, and state-run airport operator Angkasa Pura.

Sumadi then reminded people of the importance of making proper preparations before embarking on travels while advising them to travel on earlier dates prior to Eid al-Fitr.

Meanwhile, Head of Polri's Traffic Corps Inspector General Aan Suhanan informed that he and Sumadi inspected several points that are prone to congestion and accidents at Cisumdawu and Cipali toll roads.

The inspection, he said, is expected to encourage all relevant stakeholders to exert the utmost efforts to ensure the smooth running of the upcoming exodus and minimize the number of accidents.
