Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin has emphasized that Indonesia needs to employ three strategies to reform its labor market, starting with developing and perfecting the existing job market information systems.

Speaking at the 2024 Manpower Festival (Naker Fest) in Jakarta on Friday, Amin stressed that such systems must act as platforms that help education and training institutions produce talents who possess the skills demanded by the job market.

"Additionally, the systems must be able to contribute to the relaxation of the cost of workforce recruitment in order to help companies enhance their competitiveness," he said, according to a statement released by his secretariat here.

Outlining the second strategy, the Vice President underlined the importance of the relevant stakeholders demonstrating their commitment to reforming the labor market by promoting available investment opportunities.

"This way, we will be able to pave the way for the creation of more job opportunities, stimulate economic growth, and elevate the living standards of people," he pointed out.

Elaborating on the final strategy, he highlighted the need for the government, companies, workers, and all relevant stakeholders to work side by side to create a better manpower ecosystem.

Collaboration is paramount to the successful implementation of all the systems, plans, and regulations that have been devised, he added.

"I hope that the 2024 Naker Fest will serve as a forum of interactive communication, bringing together the government and people, particularly our young workforce, while sending a signal to investors that Indonesia is committed to improving its labor market," he said.

Earlier, Manpower Minister Ida Fauziyah noted that the Naker Fest is meant to be a strategic initiative that is expected to bring about major improvements in the management of Indonesia's labor market.

She expressed the hope that the festival will act as a hub that provides people with services and information related to the manpower sector.
