Jakarta (ANTARA) - A new national convention of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) will take place after October 2024 following the resolution of the leadership dispute, according to Arsjad Rasjid, Kadin's chairperson for 2021–2026.It was a "strategic resolution," said Rasjid on Saturday (September 28, 2024) while announcing his reconciliation with Anindya Bakrie, elected as the new Kadin chairperson in the disputed 2024 Kadin Extraordinary National Deliberation last September.

"We have reached an agreement expressed in a written declaration signed by all parties. We agree to organize a new national convention for Kadin after the inauguration of the new president," Rasjid said in a video posted on his social media on Monday.

Rasjid informed that he and Bakrie agreed to involve all feuding parties in the convention's organizing committee according to Kadin's Articles of Association and Bylaws, further reflecting the reconciliation.

Meanwhile, the date and the place for the convention will be subject to the government's decision, he added.

"Hence, per the agreement, the new leadership for Kadin will take over following the new convention's organization and decision," Rasjid said.

Describing Bakrie as a "best friend for long," Rasjid said that they have agreed to the national convention's organization, a strategic resolution for the betterment of Kadin.

"Let us redirect our focus again to the main purpose of Kadin Indonesia as the government's strategic partner in developing inclusive, just, and sustainable economic growth for the 2045 Golden Indonesia Vision," he added.

On Friday (September 27) evening, the public was made aware, through a video circulating on social media, that Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia had brokered a meeting between Rasjid and Bakrie, purportedly to help the two resolve their conflict.

"These are my best friends, Mr. Arsjad and Mr. Anindya. Both of them have reconciled for the sake of the betterment of the organization," Lahadalia said in the video.

"They met with and forgave each other because Kadin should be better in the future, and we must work for it," he added.
