Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY) has said that infrastructure will be the backbone and cornerstone of sustainable development in Indonesia in the future.
Through infrastructure development, President Prabowo Subianto's grand vision to achieve eight percent economic growth can be realized, he explained on the sidelines of the Economic & Capital Market Outlook 2025 at the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), Jakarta, on Thursday.
AHY added that connectivity between regions must continue to be improved by developing airports, ports, stations, trains, and roads.
He explained that connectivity between regions will directly impact economic growth and the welfare of the community, so there is a need to strike a balance.
"We must not forget about environmental aspects if we want to pursue the highest growth. We must preserve the Earth and our environment, so our children and grandchildren can also get its benefit, otherwise, we are selfish and we only have ourselves," he stressed.

According to AHY, the government will pay close attention to the need for green infrastructure development to support the realization of the government's target of net zero emissions by 2060.
For every infrastructure development, he said, the government will continue to issue new policies and stricter regulations that refer to international commitments such as the Paris Agreement.
