Jakarta (ANTARA) - Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian has suggested four strategic measures that regional governments can implement to strengthen the creative economy potential of their regions.
"We hope understanding of efforts to the develop the creative economy is not only based on direction but awareness of all regions," he said at the Coordination Meeting on Regional Creative Economy Institutions here on Tuesday.
He asked regional governments to explore the creative economy potential of their respective regions because the large potential of the creative economy can offer benefits to the regions and boost their income, increase jobs, and promote their name.

After identifying the potential, regions can set up an institution where creative economy players can report their products. Such an institution can take the form of the Creative Economy Office.
Furthermore, Karnavian advised regions to provide adequate budgets for creative economy programs to accommodate their activities.
"You have a big budget, so please make it (creative economy budget) big to support activities, ideas of creative economy players," he told regional governments.

To support creative economic activities, the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Ministry of Creative Economy have signed a joint decree, which will provide a strong legal basis to ensure that funds disbursed for creative economy players are used maximally.
Karnavian also advised regional governments to listen to the aspirations of young creative economy players for developing creativity in the fields of culture and music, among others.
"If each regional head can at least carry out two (of the suggested steps), the region's creative economy can advance," he said.
