Jakarta (ANTARA) - Head of the National Police's Traffic Corps (Korlantas) Inspector General Aan Suhanan has revealed that there will be three focuses of operations to manage traffic during the upcoming Christmas and New Year holidays.
In a statement released by the police's public relations here on Tuesday, he said that the first focus will be traffic congestion and accident-prone points on toll roads.
"There are several crucial spots and congestion points on toll roads. Several points are even prone to accidents. Therefore, we have prepared personnel and actions that will be taken," he informed.
The second focus will be traffic conditions on crossing routes. For this, he said, his side has coordinated with PT ASDP Indonesia Ferry and all relevant stakeholders to manage traffic flow during the year-end holiday.
He informed that the third focus will be traffic conditions on arterial or urban roads and popular tourist routes.
"We have carried out mapping on popular tourist destinations in West Java, East Java, Central Java, Bali, and Medan (North Sumatra)," he said.

These have emerged as the main focuses as the Ministry of Transportation has projected a 2.8-percent increase in the number of vehicles during the upcoming holiday period compared to the corresponding period a year ago.
So far, Suhanan said, his side has conducted route surveys and coordination meetings with stakeholders to improve public mobilization during the holiday period.

He added that his side will also conduct simulations, including a tactical floor game (TFG), to ensure security readiness during the holidays.
Furthermore, Suhanan asked the public to contact the Korlantas call center at 1-500-669 if they encounter problems or wish to file a complaint during the holiday period.
