Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government has sent aid to communities affected by a magnitude 6.0 earthquake in Poso, Central Sulawesi, Social Minister Saifullah Yusuf said on Monday.He stated that assistance worth more than Rp200 million (around US$12,500) was distributed in the form of mattresses, blankets, tents, ready-to-eat meals, and children's necessities.

The 6.0-magnitude quake struck Poso on Sunday, August 17, at 05:38 a.m. local time, with its epicenter about 18 kilometers northwest of Poso at a depth of 10 kilometers. No tsunami warning was issued.

The earthquake damaged numerous buildings, including places of worship, schools, and residences, affecting 433 people across 10 villages. One resident was reported dead and 14 others injured.

Previously, the Social Ministry had also distributed logistical aid to residents affected by the quake on Sunday.
