Jakarta (ANTARA) - The media center for the High-Level Meeting of the Archipelagic and Island States (AIS) Forum 2023 will have the capacity to accommodate 500 domestic and foreign journalists, the Ministry of Communication and Information has said.

"We carried out benchmarking against the 2022 GPDRR (Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction), (the capacity is) around 500 journalists," the ministry's director general for public information and communication, Usman Kansong, said at a virtual press conference on the meeting on Monday.

The 2023 AIS Forum will be held on October 10 and 11 at the Bali Nusa Dua Convention Center (BNDCC) 1 and 2, Bali. The media center is located in Tanjung Benoa Hall, BNDCC 2. Kansong informed that the media center will be open from October 9 to 14.

Several facilities have been prepared to support journalists, including computers, a dining area, media kits, medical room, press conference room, and shuttle buses for mobility during the event.

In addition, he said, it is fully supported by state-owned telecommunications enterprise Telkom and a cyber team from the ministry's Data Center and Informatics Facilities and the National Cyber and Crypto Agency (BSSN) is working on securing websites.

"We will also release press releases in two languages, photos and videos, press briefings, and the videos are clean feed, so there will be no logo from the host broadcaster," Kansong informed.

On the occasion, he informed that the registration for mediapersons who wish to cover the event opened from September 18 until October 5, 2023, on the website http://media-registration.aisforum2023.id.

The Forum is expected to be attended by participants representing 51 archipelagic and island countries, with a target of 25 representatives at the head of state/government level and 30 to 47 representatives at the ministerial level.



The event will also be attended by nine heads of international organizations, including the Pacific Island Forum (PIF), the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG), the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

In addition, the forum will be attended by heads or leaders from government and non-government organizations, including the United Nations, World Bank, International Monetary Fund, Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, and the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).

Kansong noted that the main goal of the meeting this year is to make the Forum an international organization that is based on an agreement/charter. The event will be held under the theme "Fostering Collaboration, Enabling Innovation for Our Ocean and Our Future" and three sub-themes: "Blue Economy," "Our Ocean," and "Our Future: Solidarity."
