Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) stated here on Monday that it will focus on improving sports science and data-based innovation to boost athletes' achievements in international events.
PBSI Secretary General M. Fadil Imran noted in the PBSI statement that in addition to the All England 2024, the national badminton team also reaped optimal results at the Orleans Masters and Vietnam International Challenge that were held at the same time.
Imran said that his side needs to continuously improve non-technical aspects, such as sports science. "We took lessons from the All England, Orleans, and Vietnam (competitions). We must improve non-technical aspects and be serious in further development for the women's singles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles," he emphasized.
According to Imran, the results of the three events were the implementation of the PBSI Paris 2024 Olympic Ad Hoc Team's strategy, which is to focus on improving the athletes' rankings, innovation through the application of sports science, and tailor-made programs.
He explained that the innovation is carried out by conducting performance analysis assisted by data and video tagging technology. The technology profiles athletes' performance quantitatively, and the PBSI also uses sports psychology approaches in training athletes.

"Slowly but surely, we are seeing developments that are in line with the strategy for the Olympics. Hopefully, this good momentum can be maintained until the Paris Olympics, and we can continue the gold medal tradition in the Olympics," Imran remarked.
He also expressed gratitude for the support, prayers, criticism, and suggestions from all Indonesians for PBSI. Earlier, at the All England 2024, Indonesian badminton athlete Jonatan Christie won in the men's singles, while the pair of Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto retained the men's doubles title.
