Jakarta (ANTARA) - Minister of Culture Fadli Zon stated that the community’s active involvement, starting from academicians, art and cultural players, to the younger generation, is the key to the nation's success in preserving cultural heritage.
"Cultural heritage is not just a relic of the past, but also an invaluable asset that becomes the identity of our nation. Cultural heritage is a national treasure," Fadli Zon said at the 2024 Indonesian Cultural Heritage Award (AWBI) event, in a press release received here on Sunday.
Zon said that any form of cultural heritage such as batik motifs, gamelan rhythms, traditional dances and folklore, contains noble values that reflect togetherness, mutual cooperation, and respect for diversity of the country.
Therefore, the society must take care and maintain the cultural wealth responsibility and also introduce and promote cultural heritage to the world. This year, the Ministry of Culture has designated 272 intangible culture heritages and 17 cultural properties in Indonesia.
The designation of these cultural heritages and properties had gone through a long process by involving cultural experts, local governments, institutions, maestros, owners and managers of cultural properties, and the community.
