Italy promotes eco-friendly textile tech to Indonesian industry

Solo (ANTARA) - Italy is raising awareness among Indonesian textile industry players about the importance of preserving the environment through a workshop promoting advanced, environmentally friendly Italian textile technology.

During the workshop held in Solo, Central Java, on Tuesday, the president of the Italian Textile Machinery Manufacturers Association (ACIMIT), Marco Salvade, emphasized that textile industry players must understand that societal needs are continually evolving and growing.

This development, he added, must proceed in the right way by respecting both the environment and human dignity. Salvade noted that Indonesia is currently progressing rapidly and in the right direction, with people becoming increasingly aware of the importance of environmental protection, including in the textile industry’s technological advancements.

Through the workshop, organized by the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) and ACIMIT, Italy aims to further enhance the environmental awareness of Indonesian textile industry players by introducing advanced Italian technology.

"What we are doing now is to try to improve the technology to reduce the consumption, energy consumption, and, of course, the pollution," he said.

Salvade emphasized the importance of reducing energy use in textile technology to foster a cleaner environment.

"The argument today is very important. Because less energy means less cost. But we have to think that we have to work in a cleaner world as possible," he added.

In addition to Solo, the workshop will be held in Bandung, West Java, on November 14. Through these workshops, 17 Italian textile manufacturers are promoting their advanced technologies with various specializations in the textile sector, including finishing, dyeing, non-woven textiles, spinning, weaving, knitting, and textile laboratories.

These technologies can not only increase the productivity of the local textile industry but also contribute to environmental preservation. The workshop is expected to serve as a forum for textile industry players in Central Java to gain the latest insights on digitalization, the Internet of Things (IoT), and sustainable solutions in the textile industry.
