Jakarta (ANTARA) - The nearly five-decade-long friendship between Indonesia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is an example of humanity and peace for the world, Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka has said.
"For almost five decades, relations between Indonesia and the UAE have been established, not only close politically, but also warm as brothers. This brotherhood feels warm, deep, and sincere," he added while delivering a speech at the 53rd UAE National Day reception.
The event was held in Jakarta on Tuesday evening.
According to him, the close ties between Indonesia and the UAE are reflected in the construction of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque and the Emirates Cardiology Hospital in Solo, as well as other humanitarian assistance.
The Vice President also highlighted the values of humanity and peace that are the basis of relations between the two countries, citing the inspiring words of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan about the importance of dedicating wealth to serving humanity.

"I am always amazed by the words of His Highness Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan that wealth is not in money or oil, but lies in its people. It is worthless if not dedicated to serving humanity," he said.
Gibran added that this message is very relevant in the midst of a world that is becoming increasingly divided by rivalry and differences. These deep humanitarian values provide a strong foundation for the Indonesia-UAE friendship.

He further emphasized Indonesia's commitment to continue strengthening bilateral relations with the UAE and making their friendly ties an example of humanity and peace for the world.
In his speech, the Vice President also congratulated the UAE on the commemoration of the historic day, while conveying warm greetings from President Prabowo Subianto, who was unable to attend the event.
The National Day reception was attended by the UAE Ambassador to Indonesia, Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri.
The event began with the ambassador and the Vice President delivering their remarks. This was followed by a symbolic cake-cutting to mark the historic day.
