Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology have officially established a joint committee to accelerate reforms in medical education and national health services.The launch and signing of the decree regarding the joint committee took place in Jakarta on Monday, marking close collaboration between the two ministries in responding to challenges in meeting the need for medical personnel and improving service quality.
"We are currently facing a medical personnel shortage in various regions. This committee will facilitate each party to run simultaneously without overlapping," Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Fauzan, stated in Jakarta on Monday.
Fauzan emphasized the importance of integrating educational institutions and health services to produce medical personnel who are competent and prepared to face challenges.
"Hopefully, health human resources can be more evenly distributed and have higher quality," he remarked.
On the same occasion, President Director of the Cipto Mangunkusumo National Central Public Hospital (RSCM), Supriyanto, emphasized that this collaboration also involves medical professional organizations, which play a key role in maintaining educational quality and standardizing doctor competence.
"With this collaborative structure, we can accelerate the transformation of health services based on strong and standardized human resources," he remarked.

Earlier, President Prabowo Subianto instructed the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology to establish new medical faculties and increase the number of doctors in Indonesia.

He delivered this instruction while opening the Sanur Health Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Bali International Hospital (BIH) in Denpasar, Bali, on Wednesday (June 25, 2025).
He stressed that the government must provide the highest quality health services to protect the people, adding that this can be achieved by ensuring an adequate doctor-to-population ratio.
