Jakarta (ANTARA) - Administrative and Bureaucratic Reform Minister Rini Widyantini stated that artificial intelligence (AI) can be used for the automation of routine tasks, supporting data-based decision making, and detecting and preventing misappropriation.She noted that even though creating a digital climate within the government bureaucracy in Indonesia is not easy to do, the presence of AI offers big opportunities to realize it.
"It must be supported by the development of digital talents and AI literacy so that civil servants can become AI users who have critical thinking skills, uphold ethics, and are innovative," she said in a statement here on Tuesday.
According to her, there are several challenges in facing technological disruptions, including limited digital infrastructure, a gap in competencies among civil servants, and safety risks.
Widyantini emphasized that in building the digitalization of bureaucracy, the government must have directed strategies. In this regard, the government seeks to ensure public services are more human-centric, inclusive, and proactive.
Meanwhile, the second strategy is developing regulations and governance that are adaptive to encourage faster adoption of technology and innovation. Furthermore, the third strategy is strengthening multi-party collaboration through synergy among the government, the community, academicians, the media, and industry players.

The fourth strategy is implementing better risk management through identification and mitigation in all services and changes that are made.
"Fifth, carrying out reskilling and upskilling of civil servants to prepare them for future skills needed in the digital era. With these strategies, we can realize a bureaucracy that is strong and ready to face the digital era," Widyantini remarked.

The minister also emphasized the need to bolster collaboration between academicians, the government, and industry players to realize digital governance thoroughly.
To this end, universities are expected to create innovation, ideas, and solutions that are relevant to digital transformation.
She assessed that advanced technology is only a tool; bureaucracy needs human resources that can utilize technology to benefit the wider community.
