Nusa Dua, Bali (ANTARA) - The G20 Ministerial Conference on Women's Empowerment (MCWE) has agreed to strengthen international collaboration to better support gender equality and women's empowerment, Minister of Women's Empowerment and Child Protection, Bintang Puspayoga, has informed.

"The strong commitment of stakeholders, including countries and international organizations, is key to achieving gender equality and women's empowerment," Puspayoga said while closing the G20 MCWE in Nusa Dua, Bali, on Thursday.

Although the conference has ended, collaboration can be continued further to achieve global goals, she added. To that end, she underscored the importance of businesswomen networks at the national and regional levels contributing to intensifying the active participation of women in the economy.

"Based on the discussion and recommendations, the participants expressed their support for the effort to promote women's participation and access to the position of leadership, particularly as decision-makers," she said.

The minister further said several areas that need significant investment have been identified, including investment in high-quality nursing facilities, digital technology, infrastructure, and micro, small, and medium businesses.

"Lastly, to ensure that no one is left behind, the participants fully support the significance of focusing their policies and programs on women and daughters, including people with disability and women living in rural areas," she informed.

The participants lauded the Indonesian government for its commitment to pushing ahead with gender mainstreaming efforts that kicked off during Italy's G20 Presidency in 2021.
