Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Jakarta held the commemoration ceremony of the 93rd National Day of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia here on Monday night. “Thank you for accepting the invitation to attend the 93rd National Day ceremony of my country, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the land of the two holy mosques,” the Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Indonesia, Faisal Abdullah H. Amodi, said in his opening speech at the event.
The kingdom is determined and making the utmost efforts to ensure Saudi Arabia remains a major center for international trade, he added. He further stated that Saudi Arabia and Indonesia have close relations since Indonesia is the largest Muslim country in terms of population, while Saudi Arabia is the country of the two holy mosques, from where Islam originated.
At Monday’s event, Indonesian Religious Affairs Minister Yaqut Cholil Qoumas, who represented the Indonesian government, congratulated the kingdom on its 93rd National Day. “Hopefully, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia would continue to get the blessings of unity and prosperity towards a brighter future,” he remarked.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates National Day every September 23 to commemorate the unification of the kingdom. This year’s commemoration event in Jakarta was attended by Indonesian Vice President.

Ma’ruf Amin and several ministers of the Indonesia Onward cabinet, including Qoumas, Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto, and Coordinating Minister for Maritime and Investment Affairs, Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan. Indonesia’s fifth president Megawati Soekarnoputri and Indonesia’s 10th and 12th vice president Jusuf Kalla also joined the event.
