Mataram, W Nusa Tenggara, March 4 (Antara) - The regional administration of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) wants revision of regional regulation on area layout to accommodate investment in a bid to boost economic development.
"The area layout plan (RTRW) should accommodate investment plans, not on the other way round that investment should follow the area layout," head of the regional capital investment and licensing office (BKPMPT) Ridwansyah said here on Thursday.
Ridwansyah said after five years the regional regulations on area layout need revision.
The area layout regulations of the NTB provincial administration, the Mataram city administration and the Lombok Utara regency have been in force for five years.
Ridwansyah said he hoped the team for the revision of the area layout regulations should take into account the dynamics of economic development plans at regional and national levels.
"The area layout regulations should be able to attract investment that would serve as an economic growth driver in the region," he said.
He pointed to a number of big development projects in the region such as the Global Hub airport project of Kayangan in the regency of Lombok Utara, and 500 megawatt power plants to be built in the province as part of the government`s program to build new power plants with a total capacity of 35,000 MW in five years.
In addition, there are plans to open large and modern cattle farm, corn fields and sea weed industry, he said.
"Therefore, the area layout plan should be a bid comprehensive to take advantage of the growing flows of investment to the country," he added. (*)
