Jakarta (ANTARA) - Statistics Indonesia (BPS) has reported that the exports of Indonesian-made car products to the international market are currently showing an upward trend.Acting BPS head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti said here on Monday that this trend can be seen from export commodities with Harmonized System (HS) 8702 and 8703 commodity codes, which have shown significant growth in export value in the last three years.
The commodities contributed 2.4 percent to non-oil and gas exports in the January–June 2024 period.
"From 2021 to 2023, the value of car exports from Indonesia continued to increase even though from January to June 2024, the growth was a little bit slower than the same period last year," she highlighted.
Widyasanti informed that in 2021, the value of Indonesia's car exports stood at US$3.39 billion, then it rose to US$5.57 billion in 2022, and climbed again to US$6.12 billion in 2023.
Meanwhile, in January–June 2024, BPS pegged the export value of locally manufactured cars at US$2.78 billion.
According to Widyasanti, based on the market share of export destination countries for four-wheeled vehicles made in Indonesia in January–June, the Philippines had the biggest share at 27.64 percent, followed by Vietnam at 16.17 percent and Saudi Arabia at 15.52 percent.
