Jakarta (ANTARA) - Vice President Ma'ruf Amin, on Sunday, took off for Nusantara Capital City (IKN), East Kalimantan, to carry out several official agendas, including the launch of the construction of the IKN Vice Presidential Palace.

According to a statement from the Vice Presidential Secretariat here, Amin and his entourage departed Halim Perdanakusuma Air Base, Jakarta, aboard the Vice Presidential Special Aircraft for Sultan Aji Muhammad Sulaiman Sepinggan Airport, Balikpapan, East Kalimantan, at 1 p.m. Western Indonesian Standard Time.

Amin is scheduled to join a gala dinner with President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and several ministers of the Onward Indonesia Cabinet at Nusantara's Ceremonial Plaza, National Axis area, in the evening before spending the night at a local hotel.

The following morning, the vice president will participate in a plenary cabinet meeting themed "New Nusantara, Advanced Indonesia," due to be chaired by President Jokowi at the Garuda Palace.

After the meeting, Amin will break ground for the development of the Vice Presidential Palace at around 11 a.m. Central Indonesian Standard Time (WITA), at which Jokowi is scheduled to kick-off the construction of several other projects in the future capital city.

On Tuesday (August 13) at 9 a.m. WITA, the VP will accompany the head of state while he gives directives to all Indonesian mayors and district heads at the State Palace before attending a similar activity addressed to governors at the Garuda Palace.

In the afternoon, Amin and his entourage will fly back to Jakarta.

Besides Second Lady Wury, the vice president is being accompanied by a number of his aides during his visit to Nusantara, including the Head of the Vice Presidential Secretariat, Ahmad Erani Yustika.
