Jakarta (ANTARA) - Iran is seeking to expand cooperation with Indonesia in advanced technologies, including nanotechnology, biotechnology and peaceful nuclear applications, its ambassador to Jakarta said, offering technology transfer, joint ventures and full scholarships for Indonesian students.Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Indonesia Mohammad Boroujerdi said Tehran is working to connect Iranian and Indonesian companies to turn potential partnerships into concrete projects.
“We are making cooperation between Iranian and Indonesian companies happen,” Boroujerdi said in a special interview with ANTARA at the ANTARA Museum in Jakarta on Friday.
He described Iran as one of the world’s more advanced countries in new technologies, citing expertise in nanotechnology, biotechnology, peaceful nuclear technology, healthcare equipment production and agricultural technology.
Indonesia has shown strong interest in collaborating in those sectors, he said.
Boroujerdi added that Iran maintains close ties with several Indonesian government institutions on technology transfer, including cooperation related to drones.
“When we talk about drones, people often think only of one use. But there are many peaceful applications in agriculture and other economic sectors,” he said.
He said discussions between companies from both countries are ongoing and may continue through webinars or reciprocal visits to Indonesia and Iran.
The Iranian Embassy in Jakarta is ready to facilitate contacts if Indonesian firms seek partnerships, he added.

Boroujerdi said promoting such cooperation reflects Iran’s role as a strategic partner for Indonesia in technology-related fields.
He noted that Iran has developed much of its technology domestically after nearly 47 years under US sanctions that restricted access to foreign technology.
“As we could not import many technologies, Iranians developed and produced advanced technologies on their own,” he said.
Iran is prepared to establish factories in Indonesia as part of technology transfer efforts, he added.

Tehran is also offering full scholarships to Indonesian students in science and technology fields, allowing them to study at Iranian universities or train at companies and factories.
Boroujerdi said he has informed the Indonesian government about the scholarship program.
Despite what he described as regional pressures and threats from some foreign countries, Iran remains committed to deepening negotiations and cooperation with Indonesia in advanced technology sectors.
