Jakarta (ANTARA) - The newly inaugurated head of the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN), Basuki Hadimuljono, is exploring private investment opportunities to accelerate the construction of Nusantara capital city (IKN) in East Kalimantan over the next 3 to 4 years.Currently, OIKN has received around 500 letters of intent (LoI) on IKN construction from private entrepreneurs, which need to be followed up without delay, he said after being sworn in as OIKN head on Tuesday.

"Previously, LoI was not just investors; after we mapped it out, it turned out that there are consultants, contractors, and suppliers. We prioritized the investors, which is less than half of them," he informed.

He said that the investors are more keen on the development of Region II of the IKN, which is located outside the Central Government Core Area (KIPP).

Responding to the statement of Public Works Minister Dody Hanggodo that the pace of development at IKN will be slower than before, Hadimuljono emphasized that his party will adhere to the government's commitment to expedite the completion of the new capital's construction.

"If I have a program and budget, I will do it. You know my working style, right?" he said.

According to Hadimuljono, Phase 1 of the IKN has reached 94 percent completion, while Phase 2 is more than 60 percent complete, and Phase 3 is almost 40 percent finished.

He said that he will return to his office at IKN on Thursday (November 7, 2024) to welcome members of Commission II of the House of Representatives (DPR) on a working visit.
