Jakarta (ANTARA) - Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Bahlil Lahadalia stated that President Prabowo Subianto will form a Downstreaming Task Force to integrate licensing affairs in a bid to accelerate value-added enhancement.
"The president is very focused on downstreaming. Hence, it is deemed necessary to form a task force, and the process is currently running. This task force involves technical ministries," he remarked after the Indonesia Mining Summit 2024 in Jakarta on Wednesday.
Lahadalia said he is mandated to serve as the task force's head, coordinating downstreaming acceleration in various ministries.
Those ministries comprise the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming, the Ministry of Forestry, the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Industry.
"All will be integrated there to make their work run fast. If working individually, the licensing process and everything will take a long time, and the president wants it to be fast. That is why we will form a task force," he explained.
According to the minister, the implementation of this task force remains pending, contingent upon the ratification of the Presidential Decree regarding the formation of the Downstream Task Force.
"The Presidential Decree is currently in process. We are waiting for technical direction from President Prabowo," he affirmed.

Lahadalia explained that President Prabowo's motivation for creating the task force stems from the persistent challenges in obtaining permits for sectors related to downstreaming.
One of the permits that is difficult to obtain is the Work and Cost Plan (RKAB).

"In my office, it is hard to obtain RKAB. It is said that in one year, RKAB is only issued twice," he pointed out.
In his Asta Cita goals, President Prabowo emphasizes commitment to continue downstreaming and industrialization based on natural resources, including in maritime areas, to open up as many job opportunities as possible to realize economic justice.
