Jakarta (ANTARA) - House of Representatives (DPR) Speaker Puan Maharani affirmed that the House will initially deliberate President Joko Widodo's (Jokowi's) letter regarding the Crime Asset Forfeiture Bill, received by DPR on May 4, before being read at the plenary session.

"DPR has received the letter, and we will later discuss it in accordance with the existing mechanism," Maharani remarked after the DPR Plenary Session for Session Period V of 2022-2023 at the Nusantara II Building, Senayan Parliamentary Complex, Jakarta, on Tuesday.

Maharani did not refrain from admitting that she did not allude to the letter during her opening speech in the plenary session earlier. "It was not read during the speech, as it has yet to be included in the mechanism," she added.

However, the speaker made assurance that the lawmakers would soon conduct deliberation on the Asset Forfeiture Bill in accordance with the applicable mechanism. "Yes, we will immediately (deliberate), as we have received the president's decree. It will be discussed within the applicable mechanism," she remarked.
