Penajam Paser Utara (ANTARA) - The Nusantara Capital City Authority (OIKN) is drafting a roadmap for educational development in the nation's new capital in East Kalimantan by collaborating with researchers and experts.
Educational experts recently visited some schools located in Nusantara City, the authority's Deputy for Social, Culture, and Community Empowerment, Alimuddin, noted in the OIKN's statement received here on Thursday.
"Educational researchers and experts agree that the relationship between the teachers and the students and between the students and the parents are important," he remarked.
The researchers' result of observation will be taken into account in the OIKN education roadmap. He underscored the need to provide more educational personnel and practitioners in schools in the Nusantara City.
Alimuddin accentuated the importance of principals having leadership skills in managing schools.
Moreover, he said the roadmap, which will include all education levels, will support principals in carrying out innovations.
He stated that 15 schools in Nusantara City are still under the Penajam Paser Utara district government or the Kutai Kartanegara district government's authority, which limit OIKN's authority in managing the schools.
That way, OIKN and the East Kalimantan provincial government need to come to an agreement regarding educational management in the new capital.
"From the research results, we expect to get insights on curriculum and whether the schools' facilities and infrastructure need to be developed, and the teachers' quality and capacity need to be increased," OIKN's Director of Basic Services, Suwito, remarked.
He noted that the field survey and questionnaire filling need to be carried out soon in order to prepare the roadmap draft details.
After the roadmap draft is ready, OIKN will conduct a public consultation to receive stakeholders' inputs.
