"Last year, we had a similar team called the Task Force for the Acceleration of Land Acquisition and Investment in Nusantara led by Minister Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan," according to Agung Wicaksono, Deputy for Funding and Investment at the Nusantara Capital Authority (OIKN) in Nusantara on Monday.
He noted that President Jokowi would issue a decree on the establishment of the new task force, akin to what he did to officiate the establishment of last year's task force that ended its tenure in December 2023.
According to Wicaksono, Jokowi will likely issue the decree this month, considering that the head of state had been coordinating with relevant ministers to establish the task force, including Investment Minister Bahlil Lahadalia.
"The task force that was led by (Coordinating Maritime Affairs and Investment) Minister Pandjaitan last year managed to identify issues, data, and the documents required for speeding up land acquisition and investments in the new capital city," he added.
He further noted that the Pandjaitan-led task force also succeeded in strengthening synergy among relevant ministries and agencies in facilitating business players to operate in Nusantara.
"Given last year's successful story, the team that will operate this year will be tasked with carrying on the mandates assigned to its predecessor," he stated.
The official then revealed that the total value of investment flowing into Indonesia's future capital city had increased, from Rp45 trillion (US$2.8 billion) recorded in December 2023 to Rp49.6 trillion (US$3 billion), as per data in April 2024.
"This figure is derived from five rounds of groundbreakings of projects funded by capital invested by domestic and foreign actors, including those from Singapore, India, and Europe," he elaborated.

He also revealed President Jokowi's plan on breaking ground for an investment-funded educational project in Nusantara this May.
"The date for the groundbreaking will be adjusted to the president's schedules," he added.
