Jakarta (ANTARA) - The Manpower Ministry has said that it has launched training for technicians on the installation and operation of telecommunication devices, in particular 5G technology, as part of an initiative to improve Indonesian human resources.“Digital training is in line with the government’s Asta Cita, which highlights improvement of human resources through capacity building, either through formal education or vocational training,” the ministry’s director general for vocational training and productivity, Agung Nur Rohmad, said in a statement released here on Monday.

He said that his administration is collaborating with the Communication and Digital Ministry and an information technology corporation to host the training program.

Rohmad said that the training covers workplace environmental health and safety (EHS) rules, including introducing an efficient and practical approach for local subcontractors. It will also ensure participants’ job readiness, he added.

More than 40 technicians participated in the first batch of the training, which took place at the Huawei ASEAN Academy in CIBIS Park, South Jakarta, he informed.

More than 3 thousand technicians will take part in the next series of the training in the following six months, he added.

In the same statement, secretary of the Communication and Digital Affairs Ministry’s Human Resources Development Agency, I Nyoman Adhiarna, said that the ministry is ready to collaborate with Huawei and other stakeholders to improve people’s skills and prepare them for challenges in the digital era.
