Jakarta (ANTARA) - Secretary general of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Tomsi Tohir, has urged regional governments to take concrete measures to rein in inflation and asked regional heads to evaluate those responsible for less-than-optimal inflation control.“I ask regional heads to evaluate those who are responsible for this inflation control task,” he emphasized during a coordination meeting on regional inflation control, held in a hybrid online and offline format, at the ministry’s headquarters in Jakarta on Monday.
He said that the concrete measures include implementing cheap market operations, carrying out inspections to prevent withholding of goods, cooperating with producing regions to ensure food supply, and carrying out a planting movement.
They also include realizing unexpected expenditures and providing transportation support using the regional budget.
Based on the results of the Ministry of Home Affairs’ monitoring and evaluation from June 23 to 30, 2025, only nine regions have taken those six concrete steps. Meanwhile, 60 regional governments have taken four to five concrete steps.

According to Tohir, the lack of effort indicates the regions’ lack of responsibility in carrying out the tasks they have been entrusted with.
The meeting, which was held in conjunction with the free health screening and the three million houses programs’ evaluation meeting, was attended by several ministers and officials, including Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin and Statistics Indonesia head Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti.
