Bandung (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto is set to induct a deputy commander for the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) and inaugurate six new regional military commands (Kodam) under the Army (TNI-AD), bringing the total to 21.
The events will take place during a ceremony marking TNI's major structural overhaul in West Bandung, West Java, on Sunday (August 10), according to Head of the TNI Information Office Major General Kristomei Sianturi.
Speaking after a rehearsal for the ceremony on Friday, Sianturi told the media that 27,394 soldiers from the TNI-AD, the Navy (TNI-AL), and the Air Force (TNI-AU) would participate.

“Moreover, we will showcase our defense equipment, including 152 tactical vehicles and 124 battle units,” he said at the venue.
However, he did not disclose who would be sworn in as the TNI deputy commander, a post that has been vacant since its abolition in 2000.

Earlier, in a statement, Sianturi noted that TNI Commander General Agus Subiyanto had appointed him and five other major generals to lead the new Kodams.

Kodam XX/Tuanku Imam Bonjol of West Sumatra and Jambi – Maj. Gen. Arief Gajah Mada

Kodam XXI/Radin Inten of Lampung and Bengkulu – Maj. Gen. Kristomei Sianturi

Kodam XXII/Tambun Bungai of Central Kalimantan and South Kalimantan – Maj. Gen. Zainul Arifin

Kodam XXIII/Palaka Wira of Central Sulawesi and West Sulawesi – Maj. Gen. Jonathan Binsar Parluhutan Sianipar

Kodam XXIV/Mandala Trikora of South Papua – Maj. Gen. Lucky Avianto
Beyond the TNI-AD, the TNI-AL is also planning structural changes, including upgrading 14 naval bases to naval regional commands.
