Bantul, Yogyakarta (ANTARA) - The government's transmigration program is not merely about relocating people but forms part of a broader national development strategy, Deputy Minister of Transmigration Viva Yoga Mauladi said on Saturday."Transmigration is not just about moving people from one place to another. It is one of the national development strategies," he stated during a visit to a transmigration site in Karangtengah, Bantul District, Yogyakarta.

The site currently houses transmigrants relocated from conflict-affected regions in Aceh, Central Kalimantan, and Papua. Yoga assured that the government continues to provide support and training to strengthen the economic resilience of transmigrant households.

"If there are social or economic issues, the ministry will deliver programs that support community welfare as part of national development solutions," he noted.

He emphasized the government's commitment to addressing community aspirations, including training for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), improving road access, and building social facilities.

"Community empowerment is integral to our work. Enhancing people's welfare is our goal, in line with President Prabowo's Asta Cita vision through the transmigration program," he said.

Yoga added that most transmigrants in Karangtengah now feel settled and do not wish to return to their original placement sites.

"They told us there is no need to go back. Wherever they stand is their homeland. What needs to be improved here is infrastructure, since residents already feel comfortable and content," he remarked.
