Jakarta (ANTARA) - The 2026 Hajj Pilgrimage Cost (BPIH), set at Rp87.4 million (US$5,265), reflects a balance between pilgrims' financial capacity and the efficient management of Hajj fund benefits, according to the Hajj Financial Management Agency (BPKH).BPKH Chief Executive Fadlul Imansyah said on Thursday that the reduction in next year's cost resulted from the efficiency efforts of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the House of Representatives (DPR) in reviewing all cost components.

He said the Rp2 million reduction demonstrates a shared commitment to maintaining efficiency and sustainability in Hajj fund management. Imansyah reaffirmed BPKH's readiness to distribute the Hajj fund benefits, or subsidies, to complement the portion directly paid by pilgrims.

Under the agreement, the average fee paid by each pilgrim, known as the Hajj Travel Fee (Bipih), amounts to Rp54.2 million or 62 percent of the total BPIH, while the investment benefit portion contributes Rp33.2 million or 38 percent.

"BPKH is fully committed to supporting this decision. We are ready to distribute fund benefits from Hajj investment returns to support the total pilgrimage cost, in line with the agreed proportions," Imansyah said.

BPKH Executive Board member Amri Yusuf said the agency is ready to execute the fund disbursement once the 2026 Hajj cost determination process is finalized and officially submitted by the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah.

He emphasized that cost efficiency and rationalization are essential to upholding two principles of Hajj fund management: fairness and sustainability.

"Efficiency ensures that the use of fund benefits remains measurable and that the rights of pilgrims still on the waiting list are safeguarded for the future," Yusuf said.
