Jakarta (ANTARA) - Home Affairs Minister Tito Karnavian said his ministry has coordinated assistance from regional governments totaling about Rp48 billion, or roughly $2.86 million, to support disaster response efforts in Sumatra.
The assistance was provided following a circular issued by the Home Affairs Ministry calling on regional governments nationwide to support provinces affected by floods and landslides in Sumatra, namely Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra.
“The government moved quickly by coordinating support between regions. Some provided financial assistance, while others delivered aid in the form of goods,” Karnavian said in Jakarta on Friday.
East Kalimantan Province and West Java Province were among the contributors, each providing Rp7 billion, or about $418,000, he said.
The effort was further strengthened by the Association of Indonesian District Governments (Apkasi), led by Lahat District Head Bursah Zarnubi. The association directly visited disaster-affected areas to deliver aid worth around Rp5 billion, or approximately $299,000.
In addition to inter-regional coordination, Karnavian said the central government had disbursed additional Unexpected Expenditure (BTT) funds following a directive from President Prabowo Subianto to support disaster management in affected areas.

The funds, totaling Rp268 billion, were allocated to three provinces and 52 districts and cities. Each of the three provinces received Rp20 billion, while the 52 districts and cities were allotted Rp4 billion each.
The funds have been used in line with government guidelines, including to meet the immediate needs of affected communities, he said.
Karnavian added that the ministry has deployed teams to the three provinces to provide civil registration services for affected residents.

He said the government will continue to ensure effective coordination to support swift, integrated and sustainable emergency response, rehabilitation and recovery efforts.
Severe floods and landslides hit Aceh, North Sumatra and West Sumatra in late November 2025 following intense rainfall.
Data from the National Disaster Mitigation Agency showed that as of Dec. 19, the death toll had reached 1,071, while 185 people remained missing.
The disasters damaged about 147,000 houses, 145 bridges and 434 places of worship across 52 districts and cities in the three provinces.
