Jakarta (ANTARA) - The government targeted the temporary shelters for flood and landslide victims in Aceh to be completed in early February 2026, or before Ramadan. While waiting for the temporary shelters, the National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB), along with the Ministry of Social Affairs, the military, and the National Police, is building integrated evacuation posts in several locations.
"Construction of the temporary shelters continues. Meanwhile, integrated evacuation posts will be built in several areas, such as Aceh Tamiang, North Aceh, East Aceh, Bener Meriah, and Central Aceh, equipped with health and psychosocial services, as well as public kitchens," the head of BNPB Disaster Data, Information, and Communication Center, Abdul Muhari, informed on Tuesday.
He stated that the construction of temporary shelters and permanent housing in Aceh is being carried out in five districts/cities, namely North Aceh, Central Aceh, Bener Meriah, Pidie Jaya, Gayo Lues, and Pidie.
According to Muhari, cleanup efforts in disaster-affected areas are being carried out with the maximum deployment of personnel and equipment.
In some locations, military and police personnel are working up to 18–20 hours a day to speed up recovery and restore economic activity, he added. He ensured that disaster-affected residents continue to receive support, including food and other necessities.
