Jakarta (ANTARA) - Indonesia’s state-owned electricity company, PLN, has successfully restored the electricity distribution network in 184 villages in Central Aceh District following flash floods and landslides disaster.PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo said in a press statement in Jakarta on Saturday that the restoration of electricity for the villagers follows PLN's gradual normalization of 323 electricity distribution substations to serve the disaster-affected community.

Prasodjo said PLN prioritized restoring the electricity system to support community activities during the post-disaster recovery period.

"We understand the high urgency of electricity for the Takengon community during the post-disaster recovery period. We continue to coordinate on the ground to reopen road access for mobilizing materials, which remain limited," Prasodjo said.

Earlier, PLN also airlifted an emergency generator to Takengon Regional Hospital to ensure uninterrupted health services despite total disruption of land access. Although most areas have regained electricity, recovery efforts remain constrained by damaged roads and unpredictable weather, which hamper the deployment of heavy equipment and the delivery of materials to remote locations.

General Manager of PLN’s Aceh Main Distribution Unit (UID) Eddi Saputra said his team is still working to restore normal operations at 139 additional distribution substations that remain affected, including in Takengon.

“We continue to repair these substations, including the distribution network and other supporting facilities that require further attention. Our field personnel are adapting to infrastructure and terrain challenges while prioritizing safety and reliable electricity supply,” Saputra said.
