Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA) - The Mataram City Police Force, West Nusa Tenggara, will host a mass COVID-19 vaccination event at Sangkareang Park on October 27-29 during which participants will be offered prizes.
"The prizes range from bicycles and televisions to cellphones, and many more. For the main prize, we will draw the winner each and every day," Mataram Police Chief Senior Commissioner Heri Wahyudi noted in Mataram on Monday.
Apart from offering prizes to the lucky people, the participants will also be given 150 packages of staple food. The packages will be distributed every day during those events.
"Hence, we compel people, who have not been vaccinated at all, to come (to this event)," he stated.
Wahyudi also noted that the vaccination event, with prizes on offer, was the police's effort to help the government achieve the target of 100-percent vaccination.
The Mataram Police Force received some 23 thousand doses of vaccine as a means to realize the target of assisting the government. He aimed to distribute the entire vaccine stock within three days of the event.
Additionally, the Mataram Police Chief received support in form of extra vaccinators from the Health Office.
Based on data as per October 24, 2021, Mataram City had the highest vaccination rate as compared to other districts or cities in West Nusa Tenggara. The vaccination rate for the first dose had reached 91.52 percent, while that for the second dose was pegged at 62.39 percent.
"Through this COVID-19 vaccination activity with prizes, we expect Mataram City to soon achieve the 100-percent target," he remarked.
Efforts made by the Mataram Police Force to inoculate their residents aligns with the central government's target.
The central government confirmed it was working to boost vaccination coverage among Indonesians. Initially, it was aiming for a 70-percent vaccination rate, but it has since been pushed to 80 percent and should be met by the end of 2021.
