Karawang (ANTARA) - The successful, on-target implementation of the Stunting Prevention Foster Parents Movement (Genting) will rely on the proper utilization of data on beneficiaries, Population and Family Development Minister Wihaji has said.
"This program's fate relies on data; data is our key. With data, we can have a clear picture of whom we need to aid and where they live," he expounded after the launch of the Genting program in Karawang, West Java, on Thursday.
He observed that overlooking the use of integrated data in stunting handling measures could lead to inaccurate actions, which, in turn, could result in underwhelming outcomes.
For that reason, the Genting program has been devised to ensure that stunting prevention and handling steps are taken by referring to data on the targeted beneficiaries.
"Today, we aim to begin perfecting (anti-stunting initiatives) through the Stunting Prevention Foster Parents Movement, which will sort the participants by their name and address to make everything clear," he said.
The Genting program, he added, is targeting one million families at risk of stunting, including those with pregnant and breastfeeding women as well as mothers taking care of toddlers or children aged 0–23 months.

Wihaji informed that the program will be implemented independently by partners with support from family planning counselors (PKLB) and/or cadres dispatched by the Population and Family Development Ministry.

Under the program, he said, the partners will be offered the option of either getting involved in providing nutrition-based assistance, which will be focused on children's first 1,000 days of life, or non-nutrition assistance, such as renovation of toilets and houses and provision of clean water.
He added that the program will also cover education on stunting prevention and handling.
