Jakarta (ANTARA) - President Prabowo Subianto ensured that the government has prepared a budget for the construction of both temporary and permanent housing for victims affected by the flash floods in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra.

During his visit to flood survivors at the Al Abrar Grand Mosque evacuation post in Takengon, Central Aceh, on Friday, Prabowo urged residents to remain patient, as the housing development process will take time.

“There will be temporary housing and permanent housing that we have already planned. The budget has been allocated, but it will take time,” Prabowo said, as seen in a live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat’s YouTube channel.

The President asked affected residents for patience and emphasized that the government continues to work hard to help communities recover from the disaster.

“We ask for your patience. I cannot complete this very quickly. We are already doing our best. I ask everyone to remain strong and patient. We will definitely help, do not worry,” he stated.

Earlier on Tuesday, Minister of Housing and Settlement Areas Maruarar Sirait stated that the construction of 2,000 houses for disaster survivors in Aceh, West Sumatra, and North Sumatra would be supported through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.

“I would like to say that several companies have committed to helping build 2,000 houses for our brothers and sisters in Sumatra,” Sirait said during a press conference in Jakarta.

He added that the CSR contributions for building these houses reflect the spirit of collective effort.

“This is a form of collective solidarity. I have received commitments for 2,000 houses that are ready to be provided to our brothers and sisters affected by the disaster in Sumatra,” he mentioned.
