Jakarta (ANTARA) - Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono said the government is ready to support the financing of post-disaster rehabilitation and reconstruction in Sumatra.Yudhoyono delivered this statement after holding a meeting with Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa at the Ministry of Finance's office here on Tuesday.
“In principle, the Ministry of Finance is ready to provide financial support, especially to immediately address damage to infrastructure and houses of affected residents,” Yudhoyono said.
He noted that the government continues to prioritize the handling of disaster impacts in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra, in line with the establishment of a disaster response task force by the President.
Yudhoyono explained that the main focus of rehabilitation includes the repair of basic infrastructure such as roads, bridges, and clean water supply, as well as the rebuilding of damaged and washed-away public housing.
In addition, land rearrangement and spatial planning are an important part of the reconstruction phase to ensure that communities do not return to disaster-prone areas.

“Spatial planning must be put in order so that after rehabilitation, people do not return to vulnerable locations,” he said.
According to him, financing for rehabilitation and reconstruction has layered schemes, both from the central and regional government budgets, making it necessary to integrate and update data across sectors.

Previously, the Ministry of Housing and Settlements on December 14, 2025, recorded that the total number of houses affected by floods in Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra reached 139,485 units.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Works estimated that there is a need for additional funding of up to Rp74 trillion or around US$4.3 billion for post-disaster infrastructure recovery in the three provinces.
