Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - The Ministry of Public Works (PU) has stated that the restoration of road networks and public service infrastructure is a top priority in post-disaster response efforts in several areas of Aceh."This measure aims to reopen transportation routes, logistics distribution, and access to basic services that were disrupted by flooding," Head of the Aceh Agency for Buildings, Infrastructure and Regional Planning (BPBPK) Tommy Permadhi said here on Tuesday.
He said cleanup operations have been carried out along major roads in Rantau Sub-district, including Alur Manis, Kebun Rantau, Kampung Durian, Bukit Tempurung, and several other villages.
According to Permadhi, the work has focused on clearing mud and debris left by the floods from road surfaces.
In addition to road clearance, environmental rehabilitation is being conducted through a labor-intensive program involving around 100 local residents. The initiative is intended not only to accelerate infrastructure recovery but also to provide immediate economic benefits for affected communities.
“Work has begun in residential areas impacted by the disaster, including access routes to the Drinking Water Supply System (SPAM), the Final Disposal Site (TPA), and the Fecal Sludge Treatment Plant (IPLT). These access points are a priority for immediate restoration,” he said.

Permadhi added that the ministry is still awaiting official data and a regent’s decree identifying affected residential areas, particularly to distinguish priority response zones from areas designated for relocation.
“This decree is essential to ensure that recovery efforts are properly targeted and do not overlap with regional policies,” he said.

He noted that under its mandate, the Directorate General of Human Settlements is unable to handle all cleanup work in residential areas.
“Our focus is on transporting mud and debris from roadsides to disposal sites. Cleaning of public facilities within residential areas falls under the responsibility of the Directorate General of Strategic Infrastructure,” he said.
Meanwhile, state-owned construction company PT Adhi Karya is continuing efforts to clean and normalize drainage channels, with the aim of preventing standing water and reducing the risk of further flooding.
