Pertamina records 1,321 BOPD output from LLA-6 development well

Jakarta (ANTARA) - PT Pertamina Hulu Energi Offshore North West Java (PHE ONWJ) recorded initial production of 1,321 barrels of oil per day (BOPD) from the LLA-6 development well on the LLA Platform offshore in the northern waters of West Java.

"The success of the LLA-6 well was based on experience from the LLE-5ST well that we drilled last year. Given the same target layer, we refined both the formulation and strategy," PHE ONWJ Senior Manager of Subsurface Development & Planning, Adang Sukmatiawan, said in a statement on Monday.

In addition to oil production, the development well also recorded initial gas production of 2 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD), with the hydrocarbon flow from this well was naturally strong with a water content (Basic Sediment and Water/BSW) of 0 percent.

This indicates the oil recovered was completely pure oil, Adang noted.

He explained that drilling of the LLA-6 well began on March 24, 2026, using a PVD-II rig. The drill bit penetrated to a final depth of 5,407 feet measured depth (ftMD), equivalent to 3,561 feet true vertical depth (ftTVD), the actual vertical depth from that point to the earth's surface.

This entire lengthy process, from the drilling phase to the production flow test on May 2, 2026, was completed in just 33 days.

According to Adang, this short construction period immediately had an immediate positive impact on budget efficiency.

Based on the latest field estimates, the total cost absorbed for the LLA-6 well was only 61.5 percent of the Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) approved by SKK Migas. This savings of nearly 40 percent is a significant achievement, he said.

Meanwhile, PHE ONWJ General Manager Muzwir Wiratama lauded the hard work of the entire team involved.

He said delivering optimal results at an efficient cost reflects a tangible commitment to sustainable domestic energy security. Currently,the entire PHE ONWJ fleet and team are now immediately shifting their operational focus to penetrate the next target at LLA-5 and LLA-7 Wells.

"There are more drilling initiatives planned in the future. We hope the LLA-5 and LLA-7 wells will produce comparable or better results. We are doing everything possible, to strengthen Indonesia’s oil and gas production," Wiratama said.
