Jakarta (ANTARA) - The 10th World Water Forum (WWF) in Bali next year will drive improvements in the quality of water management infrastructure, according to Minister of Public Works and Public Housing, Basuki Hadimuljono.

He said that Indonesia should make the most of the event to showcase its capabilities to the world and improve the quality of its domestic water management infrastructure. "We hope the 10th World Water Forum will bring us a better future," Hadimuljono said in a statement issued on Sunday.

He added that the forum would also be an important opportunity for Indonesia to collaborate with various parties, including domestic and international partners. The 10th World Water Forum in Bali will be held under the theme "Water for Shared Prosperity" and will feature panel discussions on sub-themes such as "Water for Humans and Nature," "Water Security and Prosperity," and "Disaster Risk Reduction and Management."

The forum is expected to be a platform for all stakeholders to share ideas, best practices, and solutions to the challenges of sustainable water resources management.

Meanwhile, World Water Council (WWC) President Loïc Fauchon said he is optimistic that Indonesia will be a good host and encouraged the global community to come together to find collective solutions to global water issues.

As the largest country in Southeast Asia, Indonesia is expected to set an example for other countries, particularly in the region, on water management, he said. "We hope the 10th World Water Forum will be a platform for exchanging information about water issues and reaching a collective agreement on good water management," Fauchon said.

The 10th World Water Forum will take place on May 18-24, 2024 and is expected to be attended by 10,000 delegates and 30,000 participants representing various interest groups from 172 countries.
