Jakarta (ANTARA) - State-Owned Enterprises (SOEs) Minister Erick Thohir met with Coordinating Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development, Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono (AHY), to discuss the development of the transportation ecosystem.

"Meeting with Minister Yudhoyono, discussing the development of the transportation system on land, sea, and air," Thohir wrote on his Instagram account @erickthohir on Tuesday.

According to the minister, a good transportation ecosystem can reduce distribution costs, resulting in competitive prices similar to those of other countries. Thohir also said he would work with the Transportation Ministry to improve the transportation ecosystem. This aligns with President Prabowo Subianto's vision to increase Indonesia's economic growth by eight percent.

"Good transportation ecosystem can reduce distribution costs, resulting in more competitive prices compared to other countries. We will also carry out cooperation and synergy with Transportation Minister Dudy Purwagandhi," Thohir remarked.

Meanwhile, on his Instagram account, Yudhoyono lauded the synergy between the three ministries in reducing air ticket fares by 10 percent during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

"Let us seize more opportunities in responding to challenges to develop our country," he stated.

Earlier, Thohir had requested shorter airport train travel time so it could be the main choice of public transportation. While reviewing the airport train from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport to BNI City Station, Jakarta, Thohir urged reducing the 50-minute travel time to improve service efficiency.

"We are calculating whether the travel time can be shortened to 40 minutes or even 35 minutes. Connectivity between the airport and the city center must be truly integrated to make this transportation mode the public's main option," he noted on January 1.

The minister is optimistic that this plan will be realized within the next six months. According to Thohir, this effort is a manifestation of the government's commitment to improving the quality of public transportation that supports passenger efficiency and comfort.
